Meet our pickleball pros

Michael DeGrazier

Pickleball Director

Michael grew up in Lake Tahoe, California where he spent most of his childhood downhill skiing, playing baseball, basketball, squash, golf or lost in nature in the high Sierras. At an early age he excelled at tennis and in 1996 was a walk-on at the University of Nevada, Reno.

After playing with the team for a year, he transferred to the University of Montana and found a love of photography, graduating with a BA in Photography (2000) and MFA in Media Arts (2004). For nearly 20 years Michael has traveled the country, working in marketing and film production, and his work in these fields has garnered him 14 Emmy nominations and 5 Emmy wins!

Michael first picked up a pickleball paddle in the fall of 2022 and unexpectedly found the sport he was always searching for. He has a passion for teaching and enjoys working with beginners and seasoned picklers of all ages. He lives in the Bitterroot valley with his wife Amber, dog Bunker, and cat Mickey. When he’s not on a pickleball court (which is rare), he enjoys the endless outdoor opportunities western Montana provides!

Wally Brakefield

Pickleball Instructor

Wally found pickleball when he moved to Missoula in 2018. He worked for Parks & Rec and the LifeLong Learning Center teaching pickleball, eventually becoming the Tournament Director. He joined The PEAK in 2022, where he coaches, runs leagues, and assists with tournaments. Wally was a high school letterman in baseball and football. He played competitive tennis and softball for over 20 years. He has coached baseball, basketball and soccer. In 2016 he “retired” and became a full-time grandpa. Off the courts, you’ll find him taking care of his beautiful grandchildren.

Devon Sikora

Pickleball Instructor

Devon grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he trained with several outstanding coaches and former world-class players. While in Louisiana he won the High School State Title for doubles tennis 3 years in a row.

Since leaving the South, Devon has continued to learn and grow from all those around him. After graduating from the University of Montana with a Degree in Elementary Education, Devon devoted himself to growing tennis across Western Montana. Currently, Devon is an Assistant Tennis-Pro and coaches pickleball at PEAK Health & Wellness.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, traveling, eating, and playing tennis & golf with his friends and family.
